How To Achieve Your Business Goals This Year

Year after year we begin aiming for high targets. We have intentions of crushing the business goals for the year. Unfortunately, more often than not our motivation often doesn’t last through February. By December we feel defeated and our dreams have been abandoned.

This Year Can Be Better Than Last

Did this happen to you last year? You are not alone. The truth is that only a small percentage of people successfully accomplish their resolutions. Sometimes we struggle to just remember what we set out to accomplish.

Even if you didn’t quite conquer last year’s goals, you can wipe the slate clean and make this year different. This year you can achieve your business goals.

Planning to Succeed

As you are getting ready to tackle the plans for the year, put aside the shortcomings of before. It’s hard to think big while also remembering how you missed the mark in the past. So let it go.

Once you’ve decided what results you want to see, you’ve got to make a plan. Break your goals down into smaller steps. Plan to review the steps daily, weekly, and monthly. Make time in your schedule for this by actually writing it in your calendar.

It is truly easy to forget what our long term target is. Day to day business gets hectic. The tyranny of the urgent snatches our attention and we get distracted. Expect it and make a plan to stay on track. You can do this by writing them down.

While writing your goals down in a planner or journal is a good start, it may not be enough. Unless you make it a habit to return to them daily.

A more effective approach may be to put your written objectives in a prominent place.

Stick them on your car dash.

Write them on a whiteboard in your office.

Make them part of your computer wallpaper.

Post them on your fridge and bathroom mirror

You want to put them in places where you and your team will see them several times a day.

Follow Your Plan Step by Step

Having prepared yourself to stay on track and focus on your goals, you are ready to put it into action. Hold yourself and your team accountable in order to stick to the plan.

One way to do this is by tracking your steps. As you complete a task or reach a milestone, record it.  This way you can see the progress you’ve made. It is motivating to check off each step.

Celebrate each small success and before you realize it, you will be ready to set new business goals!

If your goals include an increase in income, consider investing in real estate.
